Biography

Jayna B. Patel, Esq. is a Partner at The Montanari Law Group, LLC, where she brings over a decade of experience and a relentless commitment to guiding individuals and families through some of the most challenging periods of their lives. Since joining the firm in 2013, Jayna has earned a reputation for her sharp legal acumen, compassionate counsel, and unwavering advocacy in all areas of family law.

She is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, New York, and Florida. A proud graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, Jayna earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Marketing and History before receiving her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law. While in law school, she served as Vice President of the Family Law Society and was a member of the prestigious Innocence Clinic, where she developed her advocacy skills and passion for justice. She also interned at a boutique firm specializing in International Trade Law, with a focus on trademark and copyright infringement.

Jayna’s family law practice includes complex divorce litigation, custody and parenting time disputes, equitable distribution, child and spousal support, domestic violence matters, and post-judgment enforcement and modification applications. Whether negotiating a settlement or litigating in court, Jayna combines strategic thinking with a client-focused approach, always striving to minimize conflict and deliver results that protect her clients’ rights and long-term well-being. Her clients value her clarity, compassion, and ability to simplify even the most emotionally charged and legally complex matters.

In her pursuit of continued growth and innovation, Jayna earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Technology and Entrepreneurship from Cornell University, Cornell Tech. While at Cornell, she worked on cutting-edge projects at the intersection of technology and public service. Most notably, she collaborated with the NYC Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence as part of a multidisciplinary team that developed a secure, untraceable web application to connect domestic violence survivors with essential resources while protecting their privacy and safety.

Jayna also co-founded a tech startup that created a line of smart toys to support children with learning and social disabilities. The company’s pilot product utilized emotion recognition software to help children with autism understand and interpret emotional cues, highlighting her ongoing commitment to serving vulnerable populations through innovation.
